So what is it that I can do for your production?

As a script supervisor, I work to comprehensively support each project from pre-production through to wrap, from preparing comprehensive breakdowns custom-tailored to the needs of your production, to providing consultation early on that addresses potential logistical issues, to acting as a trusted point of communication between departments, to consistently delivering clear and detailed documentation of each day’s on-set activities.

More than this, I’m the calm and steady voice, ready to answer any question, ready to solve whatever problem might arise, ready to do whatever it takes for the love of the art and the craft.

Pre-Production

Includes a complete scene-by-scene analysis of key production elements relevant to overall project continuity. The breakdown process also includes separate story beat and day breakdowns, which aid in better visualizing the story timeline throughout the production process.

Optionally, the script may be pre-timed on a scene-by-scene basis. This produces a close estimate of the total running time of the script. This information can then be tracked and updated to better reflect the actual run time as the shoot proceeds, day by day.

Prior to shooting, and arising from the breakdown process, a scene-by-scene list of clarifying questions and concerns will be developed and brought to the director and relevant department keys for discussion. Information gained from these consultations, as well as other pre-production meetings, tech surveys, and related activities will inform and strengthen the foundation upon which the continuity and integrity of the production as a whole will rest.

Production to Wrap

During shooting, the continuity of all relevant production elements is monitored and documented on a take-by-take basis. Action, dialogue, and other elements are matched, and coverage is tracked across the script.

Otherwise known as the topsheet, this daily report contains a plethora of key production information, such as First Shot, Meal, and Wrap times, a detailed overview of the day’s work, and cumulative data regarding the overall status of the production.

These daily editorial notes detail slates and takes according to script order. They also contain take-by-take commentary, circled takes, and technical camera information.

This daily editorial report details all of the slates shot during a single day, in shooting order.

A daily editorial record of all coverage drawn atop the script, slate-by-slate, on a per-camera basis.

An annotated version of the script that contains all action and dialogue additions, omissions, or changes, as occurred on set. Variations on dialogue, improvisations, or other such exceptions are also noted here. This script represents what was actually said and done, rather than what was originally written.

Kit

On-set continuity notes are completed the old-fashioned way, using pen and paper. This ensures agility and speed for when it counts most.

Breakdowns, daily reports, and script documents are all produced digitally, using custom-made forms designed and optimized for clarity and efficiency. These forms can be further customized to meet the specific needs of each production or individual editor.

This industry-standard annotation tool is used to produce clean and professional script annotations and linings.
